- Concentration: 10 divided by 2 = 5 mg/mL, which is 5,000 mcg/mL

Choosing the right diluent
Bacteriostatic water is the usual choice for reconstitution. It contains a small amount of benzyl alcohol, which inhibits bacterial growth and is what allows a vial to be entered more than once. Sterile water has no preservative and is intended for single use. The diluent does not change how much peptide is in the vial, only the concentration of the solution.
How to check the calculator by hand
A three-step cross-check confirms nothing was entered wrongly:
- Read the vial label in mg and confirm the diluent volume in mL
- Divide mg by mL yourself to get the concentration in mg/mL
- Work out mcg per syringe unit and confirm it matches the tool
Verification example: a 10 mg vial in 4 mL gives 10 divided by 4 = 2.5 mg/mL, which is 2,500 mcg/mL. On a U-100 syringe of 100 units, each unit carries 2,500 divided by 100 = 25 mcg.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert mcg to syringe units?
Work out the concentration first. Divide the vial strength in mg by the diluent volume in mL to get mg/mL, then multiply by 1,000 for mcg/mL. Divide your target dose in mcg by that figure to get the volume in mL, then multiply by 100 for units on a U-100 syringe.
Does adding more bacteriostatic water reduce the dose?
No. The total peptide in the vial is fixed. More diluent lowers the concentration, so the same dose is drawn as a larger volume. The amount of peptide is unchanged.
What does mg/mL mean on this calculator?
It is the concentration of the reconstituted solution: how many milligrams of peptide are present in each millilitre of liquid.
How many doses will one vial give?
Divide the vial strength by the dose. A 10 mg vial dosed at 250 mcg gives 40 doses, because 250 mcg is 0.25 mg and 10 divided by 0.25 is 40.
